Alycia de Mesa,
also known as
Fire Sparkles the Sky,
began the harp as her third instrument at the age of
10. She studied classical solo music and played as an
orchestral, music theater and ensemble player
throughout her teens and twenties. Her teachers
included Karen Miller, Christine Vivona, Caroll
McLaughlin and Marcella Decray. Today she is a
versatile player of many genres. In addition to
performing classical and contemporary music, her
passion is to create, perform and record original,
harp-based music that blends classical, jazz, world
music, and pop within an improvisational framework
