Lou Burrell
and his wife Joan relocated to Prescott from Milwaukee, WI
in 2000. While in Milwaukee, Lou sang and played drums with
many local jazz groups. In Prescott, he has sung at The
Hassayampa Inn, the Acker Festival, and other locations and
functions. A versatile vocalist, Lou enjoys interpreting
the styles of performers like Perry Como and Nat King Cole,
and he has even been known to yodel a cowboy song or two.
Lou is half Seneca Indian and frequently plays his native
flute for occasions in the Prescott area.
Jaya Hoy
began playing the piano at age 4 and began playing publicly
at a very young age, performing Mozart's Piano Concerto in
A major at the age of 13 in Saskatoon, Canada. After
receiving a performance degree from the Royal Conservatory
of Toronto at age 17, she continued her studies with Bruno
Seidlehofer (a renowned Bach expert) at the Academy for
Music and the Performing Arts in Vienna and later with
Maria Curcio, Christopher Elton and Mitsuko Uchida in
London, England. She gave concerts regularly in Canada and
Europe for a number of years before choosing to pursue
family life and other interests. About 3 years ago, she
began to perform publicly again in Prescott, Edmonton,
Saskatoon, and London, as a soloist, with chamber groups
and as an accompanist.
Brock Lacock,
blues guitar and singer.
Thomas Murphy
is a percussionist and music educator in the Phoenix area.
During his ten-year career, Thomas has performed with the
Phoenix Symphony, Mesa Symphony, Sonoran Desert Chorale and
The Chamber Orchestra of Northern New York. He also
freelances with various Latin and jazz groups in the
Phoenix-Metro area. He holds a Bachelor of Music Education
from the State University of New York at Potsdam, and a
Master’s degree in Percussion Performance from Arizona
State University. Thomas is currently Percussion Director
with The Phoenix Symphony Guildand the Chapter President of
the Arizona Percussive Arts Society. He teaches music at
San Tan Elementary School and is also an adjunct music
faculty member at Mesa Community College.
Violinist Katie
Peterson is a regular on the Arizona Celtic music
scene. After completing her music degree at Northern
Arizona University, she furthered her Celtic music studies
in Scotland and Ireland. She is a member of the Celtic
bands New Potatoes and Crosswind and teaches privately in
Prescott. She can be heard on the New Potatoes CD titled
Last Night’s Fun. Katie is a roster artist of the
Arizona Commission on the Arts.
