Alycia de Mesa, also known as Fire Sparkles the Sky, began the harp as her third instrument at the age of 10. She studied classical solo music and played as an orchestral, music theater and ensemble player throughout her teens and twenties. Her teachers included Karen Miller, Christine Vivona, Caroll McLaughlin and Marcella Decray. Today she is a versatile player of many genres. In addition to performing classical and contemporary music, her passion is to create, perform and record original, harp-based music that blends classical, jazz, world music, and pop within an improvisational framework
